If you have never ridden on a Carnival float, the best way to do it is to go though a training process by CARNAVALACCESS two weeks prior to Mardi Gras when the crowds are still mostly local families and membership holders. Two weekends after the parade the final party will be held at the Sheraton Hotel where refreshments are served with live music and everyone can share their parade stories; admission will be free. In 2007, Carnaval Access will honor two volunteer workers from the Common Ground Organization based in LOS ANGELES. They have been in the New Orleans area since the first few days after Hurricane Katrina. Common Ground is a group of volunteers from all over the United States.
